Escape From Friend Zone // 13th April 2011 // 1 note
A nice click-through game of getting out of the friend zone. If you do everything right… well… just play it. It’s life.

A biology venture I did with some bio classmates/friends when I went to college in Washington during autumn of 2009. It took all day and it was rainy that day too but we got it done. It stayed for several weeks until the all eventually were blown away. Even DNA splits and spreads apart like the autumn leaves.
While in a bit of an Isis listening mood, these were photos that I took of some of the members of Isis during their final tour. These were taken back in May 2010 at Olympia, WA right before they opened with “Threshold of Transformation”. It was such an intimate show in a small downtown theatre and I had the opportunity to find myself leaning onto the stage right underneath Aaron Turner. That show was to saw the least, oceanic in the sense that I found myself lost in the torrent of sound. Here’s a video I found from the concert if anyone is interested: here.
“Black Running Water” by Mammifer
As Pitchfork describes Mammifer, it’s like removing Tori Amos’ vocals and making the genre more post. Personally I just found out about Faith Coloccia and her bringing piano to a pure instrumental form from learning that Aaron Turner(of Isis amongst others) collaborates with her. This piece brings about the fact that the piano is a powerful instrument when not used as flourishes for pop music. Check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/mamiffer if you’re interested in learning more.
When I watched this episode when I was younger, this went over my head. Looking at this now, it’s rather existential in nature. Stu Pickles has lost any relevant meaning in his life and tries to substitute the void that was created in a rather crude way to avoid facing the fact that his life has become meaningless. When his substitute is shattered, his shell of what he was shattered along with it. He lost his sense of self and meaning. Now apply this to someone you know or yourself. Losing sense over your identity is harrowing for anyone. All you can do is scream. It’s an interesting thought I think. Discuss?
One cannot inspire the lost if they aren’t a bit lost themselves. What makes one inspirational though is the sheer ambition and hope of finding what they’re looking for through learning and guiding others who are lost as well.
We are zeros. Empty and circular. We are nothing extraordinary. Even though we may be nothing, together we create infinity.

I just heard on NPR this morning that the federal government is holding a vote on whether or not to cease funding of NPR and also cut more funding on public television. If this bill passes, NPR would lose 15 percent of its total funding. The reason for this you may ask? The already proven doctored and edited clips of James O’Keefe, a conservative activist and is still on probation for phone tapping, set up hidden cameras during a conversation between Ronald Schiller(NPR VP of Fundraising until recently fired due to this) and the Islamic Brotherhood Front. The clips were doctored to make it seem he called the Tea Party racist for not accepting nor supporting the IBF(Spoiler: Schiller doesn’t accept the money in the end anyway.) When the doctored clip was released to the public, Schiller stepped down to the allegations. Now House is voting on a bill that would be a coup de grace to NPR because they didn’t effectively defend Schiller’s original, true, undoctored statement. So in short, NPR needs to step up for itself big time. Consider: Did Glenn Beck’s case that the Japan Tsunami was caused by radical islam(read: muslims) in America get him fired due to his statement? No flak really from national media which leads to why he has his job still. So far, most people who made dumb remarks lost their jobs or were openly ridiculed like Gilbert Godfried losing his status as the AFLAC spokesperson because of his remarks. This may be saying something about what the political climate is today and what it wants you to hear.
Here is part one of the edited video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xd9OYJMX9t4&feature=related
Which by the way is on O’Keefe’s personal youtube account. Notice the editing of this and how this can start a bill in congress while things that conservative pundits say doesn’t invoke any serious repercussions.

Short Acoustic Piece- “These Crowded Streets” by Fortune’s Fool
I wrote this with the thought of if anyone would smile or give the smallest hint of warmth in a bustling city. The feeling of loneliness even with activity going on.

“One More Time, One More Chance” by Yamazaki Masayoshi
This song has such raw emotion to it and yet it is crafted by a beautiful simplicity of voice and guitar flared with passion. This song gets to me sometimes. Anyways, here is the english translation of the lyrics. Enjoy.
Lyrics:
What else need I lose, before my heart will be forgiven?
What pain need I feel, before I can see you again?
One more time—I don’t want the season to change
One more time—That time we spent joking together
I was always the one to give in when we didn’t agree
Your touch of selfishness made me love you all the more
One more chance—My memories hold me back
One more chance— I can’t say where we’ll meet again
I’m always searching, watching for a glimpse of you
On the opposite platform, in alleyway windows
Not that I could hope to find you there
If I could have any wish I would be with you now
There’s nothing left that I won’t do
I’d give everything just to hold you again
Anyone would do if I just wanted
To hold back my loneliness
But on a night like this
When the stars themselves seem like they might fall
I can’t fool myself
One more time—I don’t want the season to change
One more time—That time we spent joking together
I’m always searching, watching for your face
At intersections, in my dreams
Not that I could hope to find you there
Granted a miracle, I’d want to show you
A new morning, the person that I’m becoming
I’d finally tell you that I love you
I’m lost in memories of summer,
A pulse that fades to nothing
I’m always searching, watching for a glimpse of you
In the city at dawn, in Sakuragi-cho
Not that you would ever come here
There’s nothing left that I won’t do
I’d give everything I have just to hold you again
I’m always searching, watching for some part of you
In shops when I travel, in newspaper stories
Not that I could hope to find you there
Granted a miracle, I’d want to show you
A new morning, the person that I’m becoming
I’d finally tell you that I love you
I’m always searching, watching for your smile
At train crossings, waiting for the express to pass
Not that I could hope to find you there
If I could live over and over again, I would always go back to you
The most important thing of all
